Fiskars Brayers

What is a Brayer?A Brayer is an art and crafts tool resembling a paint roller that is used to rub ink onto paper or cardstock to achieve a coloured and usually patterned background. The Fiskars Brayer Background rollers can be considered roller rubber stamps. The various brayer rollers and the handle are sold separately but they are fully interchangeable so you only need 1 handle. How to use the Brayer:1) Select the patterned brayer of your choice and gently slot into the handle.2) Ink up the brayer by rolling on a dye based ink pad in one direction only. you will need to roll repeatedly to get an even coat of colour, so lift the brayer and roll again. Do this repeatedly until you are happy the brayer is completely inked.Avoid the use of oil based products or permanent markers as continued will cause deterioration of the brayer rubber!3) Roll the inked brayer back and forth on the paper. Continue rolling until all the ink has been transferred from the roller to your stamping surface. The colours will become smoother and richer as you roll back and forth. Re-ink and the roll the brayer over another section of your stamping surface. Remember, you can roll straight up and down, diagonally, criss-cross or absolutely randomly. For an edge to edge finish you may need to 'roll over the edge' of the item you are inking so be sure your project is on an appropriate surface when working!4) To clean the brayer roller, remove from handle and either clean with a sponge and specialised stamp cleaner or use lukewarm water and mild soap.5) When storing your brayers ensure that they are away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry, dust free location. Please be aware that Fiskars have discontinued production of this range but many stockists are still carrying stock and it is available on Ebay Follow this link to se my stock of Fiskars Brayer products Excellent Source of Fiskars Brayers
